Founded in 1920 by Scottish immigrant John A. Templeton and located in Terre Haute, Indiana, Templeton Coal Company is a diversified business with mining interests in nearby Sullivan, Greene and Knox counties. The company also has three subsidiary companies: Glas-Col, Terre Haute, Indiana; Dicksons, Seymour, Indiana; and Plumb Supply Company, Des Moines, Iowa. You can read about each of our subsidiaries.
While each subsidiary possesses the autonomy to run itself, each also enjoys the support of a corporate office in Templeton Coal Company that keeps a keen eye on issues affecting each facet of the company. That could mean talking to legislators about key issues regarding business or energy. It also means staying attuned to opportunities for future growth, whether that involves contracting more coal to be mined or diversifying through acquisition of other viable businesses.
